Madonna University - Julie Pulgini, Gerald Charbonneau
This project will look at the socioeconomic opportunities o f Urban Gardening for at risk
inner-city communities and the enhancement of the quality of life. A Qualitative Study using visual data to analyze research will be the method to test the hypothesis. Using a documentary cinematic process as the medium students will focus on three communities.
Michigan State University - Zenia Kotval
A group of German students from Dortmund University will team up with students from MSU to do a five day visioning session focused on the Meridian Mall Property in Meridian Township. The results from the visioning session will become a part of the Meridian Mall project that is funded by MSHDA/HUD as part of the Capital Access Initiative and Corridor Development Study.
Michigan State University - Forrest S. Carter
This project is known as the Helping Entrepreneurs Revitalize Our Economy and Society (HEROES) project. This is a project to establish a collegiate chapter of the Lansing Black Chamber of Commerce in order to impact the number of entrepreneurs among members of urban and distressed communities. The project involves three major components: network development, mentoring and economic assistance, and training and innovation technology transfer.
