Thanksgiving in Michigan
In celebration of Thanksgiving, REI is expressing gratitude for Michigan's economic accomplishments towards a brighter future!
Michigan's Economy is on the upswing! Mary Engleman, executive director of the Greater Farmington Area Chamber of Commerce, points to growing entrepreneurship and innovation among job creators for the more than 220,000 private sector jobs that have been created this year.
Michigan is America's Comeback State! Michigan has been ranked number 1 for states that recovered most from the Great Recession and has the 6th fastest growing economy.
Michigan is the place to be for Technology and Innovation! We are currently 3rd in the nation for high-tech job growth. Detroit alone is becoming home to more tech start-ups than Silicon Valley with more than 57,000 unfilled tech jobs. Venture capital investments also grew by more than 27%.
Michigan Agriculture International Marketing Program extends its $2.8 billion dollar market area to China, Canada, Mexico, and South Korea particularly for Michigan-grown corn and soybeans.
REI Gives Thanks
REI is thankful to Keynote speaker Reverend Barry Randolph for participating in the Summit and providing the attendees with an engaging and motivational presentation about makerspaces and entrepreneurship!
We're also thankful to the REI Consultative Panel and the REI Network, as well as the entire REI staff including the project team and research assistants for all their hard work!
We wish you a very happy Thanksgiving!
