Dr. Laurel Ofstein is Faculty Director of the Burgess Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at Michigan State University and Associate Professor-Fixed Term in the Department of Management of the Broad College of Business. Prior to MSU, Laurel was Associate Professor of Management at Western Michigan University, Director of the Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, and Operations Director of the student business accelerator. She has taught courses at both the graduate and undergraduate level on creativity, entrepreneurship, family business, and strategy at DePaul University, University of Illinois at Chicago, and Western Michigan University. Laurel has a PhD in Business Administration with a focus on Entrepreneurship from University of Illinois at Chicago and conducts research on creativity and innovation within ecosystems, organizations, and business accelerators. Most recently, her research focuses on the entrepreneurial mindset, and social entrepreneurship, both within an incubator setting, as well as within the community through cross-sector social partnerships.
