Manager of Talent and Economic Development, Southeast Michigan Council of Governments (SEMCOG)
Naheed Huq serves as Manager of Economic and Community Vitality at SEMCOG, the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments (SEMCOG), a regional planning agency representing the seven counties in Southeast Michigan. She also serves as Vice President of the Metropolitan Affairs Coalition (MAC), a partnership of business, labor, government and education.
She manages SEMCOG/MAC economic development and talent initiatives, supports parks and recreation programs, EV planning and mobility efforts to further equitable economic growth. She also provides assistance on strategic planning. Current focus areas include expanding broadband availability and access, and analyzing opportunities in the mobility industry.
She has lead several multi-sector task forces related to soft skills, infrastructure jobs and technical skills gap, STEM and skilled trade careers, education reform, and future skills. She has developed reports, articles and blogs, on education and talent development. She is a regular speaker at education and workforce conferences.
Ms. Huq holds a Bachelor’s degree in Geography from London University and a Master’s degree in Social Policy and Planning from the London School of Economics.
She serves on the Southeast Michigan Community Alliance (SEMCA) Workforce Development board; Southwest Solutions Board; Southwest Economic Solutions Board; and the Winning Futures Workforce Development Advisory Committee.
