District 11 Director, Michigan State University Extension

Richard Wooten

Mr. Wooten is one of two District 11 Directors with Michigan State University Extension where he provides leadership for MSU Extension staff in Wayne County. Prior to accepting this position, he was an MSU Extension Educator working in Government and Public Policy. He was formally the Wayne County Extension Director until his role changed in July 2010. Before returning to work with MSU Extension in 2005, Mr. Wooten was a Planning Director for more than seven years in two different communities, Inkster Michigan and Albany Georgia. He was also a Senior Planner with the City of Detroit. Mr. Wooten holds a bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning from Norfolk State University and a master’s degree in City and Regional Planning from Ohio State University.
