The U.S. Economic Development Administration has supported the creation of 3 innovative online tools for economic development and comprehensive planning that allow the measurement of economic, environmental, and social impact, as well as the creation of interactive industry cluster maps.

  • Triple Bottom Line Tool: This tool assists in optimizing investments for the economy, environment, and community, created by Portland State University. For more information view the webinar.
  • Cluster Mapping: This tool allows the user to interactively map clusters, and was created with leadership from Michael Porter of the Harvard Business School.
  • Local Decision Maker: This web-based Geographic Information Systems (GIS) tool assists communities in the decision-making process by providing useful maps and data for the planning process, and was developed by the Purdue Center for Regional Development.
